Back in April 2023, we tried something a little different. We soft launched our children’s picture book on Kickstarter with a goal of funding our first edition printing of Total Solar Eclipse: A Stellar Friendship Story.
We set the fundraising goal at $2,024—a nod to the big eclipse in 2024—and crossed our fingers. If we didn’t reach that number, we would be back where we started: $0.
From the moment we launched our Kickstarter campaign, generosity, encouragement, and enthusiasm flooded in. We hit our goal on day one and earned Kickstarter's coveted "Project We Love" badge on day two. In the end, we pre-sold 170 books and raised $5,171 overall in four weeks.
This group of backers and supporters didn't just help fund our first print run; they became a vital part of our story. Our #StellarLaunchTeam was formed!
Our project has come to life and we have created a beautiful, engaging, and fun children's picture book that helps people of all ages prepare for and remember the solar eclipse events of October 2023, April 2024, and beyond.
